Dolomite is a sedimentary rock formed from the alteration of limestone by the substitution of calcium with magnesium in magnesium-rich waters.

Found in various parts of the world, it is especially abundant in Brazil. Dolomite has an appearance similar to marble, exhibiting a range of colors from white, gray, and beige to rarer shades of pink and green, depending on its mineral composition. Known for its strength and durability, dolomite is harder than limestone, yet it retains a certain softness that makes it easy to cut and polish. Its texture is generally homogeneous, with smooth veins that add natural elegance to the material.

Dolomite is widely used in interior and exterior design projects. It is a popular choice for kitchen and bathroom countertops, flooring, wall coverings, and fireplaces due to its resistance to scratches and stains. Additionally, its durability makes it ideal for high-traffic and intensive use areas. The timeless beauty of dolomite, combined with its functionality, makes it an excellent option for residential and commercial projects. Dolomite is also resistant to extreme temperatures, making it suitable for outdoor applications such as paving and facade cladding.

Frequently Asked Questions About Dolomite

Dolomitic marbles, or hard marbles, have definitely made an impression on the whole world. But, why exactly have they made such an impact, why are they so important, why are they revolutionizing the market, and why should you care about them?

Dolomitic marbles have a beauty never seen before, they range from every kind of luxurious movements and colors. A perfect example of the beauty that they hold is Matterhorn. This material has the most desired white background, and the best part of it, is that it doesn’t have any incidents of pink! A dream come true.

They are also extremely resistant, and this is due to the high levels of magnesium that this material has in its structure. We will come back to this topic in FAQ number 3.

Also, dolomitic marbles are great when it comes to the cost-benefit.

When you acquire a dolomitic marble, you will have timeless beauty, merged with resistance and reliability! We are obsessed with them.
Zucchi’s dolomites are the best in the market! And that is due to the revolutionary way in which we process our hard marbles.

Our factory is 100% automated, We never move our blocks or slabs through cranes or belts.

They make their path through ground stable charts assuring the structure´s integrity will remain intact.

We also count with vacuum chambers that allow the resin to penetrate deeply into the slab’s structure. After the resin enters the slab, we put them in UV Resin Dryer machines that ensure that there is not even one nano-imperfection.

Hard marbles, as we have previously stated, have been taking the market by a swoop. A very important reason why the market has been so open to the revolutionization of dolomitic marbles is due to their extreme resistance.

Dolomites are considered to be the hardest and most resistant type of marbles. Having high levels of magnesium (a natural acid neutralizer) in its mineral composition, dolomites are way less susceptible to etching, staining, or scratching than marbles rich in calcite.

If you want to be 100% certain that your stone will not carry the story of its daily use it is recommended that you make sure to wipe off and immediately clean liquids with high acidity levels such as citric juices, vinegar, coffee, wine, sauces, etc to avoid long exposure that can affect the stone.

Ask your installer to apply one of the many stone sealers today available in the market to turn the surface of your stone impermeable. Some of these product protection will last for over 2 years before having to be reapplied.

Besides the many options of liquid sealers, today you can also count with modern stone protection products, such as proprietary stone laminate adhesives that are applied to the surface of your stone which provides full protection to scratching, etching, and staining without altering the look of the material or requiring reapplication over time.
